VITAMIN C – Vitamin C is an antioxidant that is required for tissue growth and repair, adrenal gland function, and healthy gums. It also aids in the production of anti-stress hormones and interferon. It helps to prevent cancer, protects against infection, and enhances immunity. Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron and also may reduce cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. Essential in the formation of collagen, Vitamin C protects against blood clotting and bruising, and promotes the healing of wounds and burns.
CALCIUM – Calcium is important in the maintenance of a regular heartbeat and the transmission of nerve impulses. Calcium lowers cholesterol levels and helps prevent cardiovascular disease. It is needed for muscular growth and contraction, and for the prevention of muscle cramps. This important mineral is also essential in blood clotting and helps prevent cancer. It may lower blood pressure and prevent bone loss associated with osteoporosis as well. Calcium provides energy and participates in the protein structuring of RNA and DNA. It is involved in the activation of several enzymes, including lipase, which breaks down fats for utilization, by the body. In addition, calcium maintains proper cell membrane permeability, aids in neuromuscular activity, helps to keep the skin healthy, protects the bones and teeth from lead by inhibiting absorption of this toxic metal.
MAGNESIUM – Recent research has shown that magnesium may help prevent cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and certain forms of cancer, and it may reduce cholesterol levels. This essential mineral protects the arterial linings from stress caused by sudden blood pressure changes, and plays a role in the formation of bone and in carbohydrate and mineral metabolism. Magnesium is a vital catalyst in enzyme activity, especially the activity of those enzymes involved in energy production. It assists in calcium and potassium uptake. A deficiency of magnesium interferes with the transmission of nerve and muscle impulses, causing irritability and nervousness. Supplementing the diet with magnesium can help prevent depression, dizziness, muscle weakness, twitching, and premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and also aids in maintaining the body’s proper pH balance. Magnesium is necessary to prevent the calcification of soft tissue. With Vitamin B6, magnesium helps to reduce and dissolve calcium phosphate kidney stones and may prevent calcium oxalate kidney stones. It is effective in preventing premature labor and convulsions in pregnant women.
POTASSIUM – This mineral is important for a healthy nervous system and a regular heart rhythm. It helps prevent stroke, aids in proper muscle contraction, and works with sodium to control the body’s water balance. Potassium is important for chemical reactions within the cells and aids in maintaining stable blood pressure and in transmitting electrochemical impulses. It also regulates the transfer of nutrients through cell membranes. This function of potassium has been shown to decrease with age, which may account for some of the circulatory damage, lethargy, and weakness experienced by older people.
GLUCOSAMINE – Glucosamine is involved in the formation of nails, tendons, skin, eyes, bones, ligaments, and heart valves. It also plays a role in the mucous secretions of the digestive, respiratory, and urinary tracts. Glucosamine can be helpful for asthma, bursitis, candidiasis, food allergies, osteoporosis, respiratory allergies, tendonitis, vaginitis, and various skin problems.
VITAMIN D-3 – Vitamin D, a fat-soluble vitamin, is required for the absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus by the intestinal tract. It protects against muscle weakness and is involved in regulation of the heartbeat. It is also important in the treatment of hypocalcemia, enhances immunity, and is necessary for thyroid function and normal blood clotting.
VEGETAL SILICA – More effective for calcification than calcium. Increases calcium absorption promotes healing of broken bones and connective tissue. Useful for treatment of arthritis, osteoporosis and rickets. Has anti-depressant properties and is a nerve tonic. A source of vitamins B, B2, D and Vitamin E.
ALFALFA – Alkalizes and detoxifies the body. Acts as a diuretic, eases inflammation, lowers cholesterol, balances hormones, and promotes pituitary gland function. Also contains an antifungal agent. Good for anemia, bleeding-related disorders, bone and joint disorders, colon and digestive disorders, skin disorders, and ulcers.
HORSETAIL – Horsetail is a diuretic and strengthens hair, nails, bone and teeth. It promotes healthy skin and improves calcium absorption and formation. It has been used in treating intestinal disorders, rheumatism and gout.
ECHINACEA – Echinacea stimulates certain white blood cells and has anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. It is good for the immune system and the lymphatic system, and is useful for colds, flu, and other infectious illnesses. Echinacea possesses a direct antibiotic property of its own against certain kinds of microorganisms, including strep and staph germs.
SARSAPARILLA – Increases energy, protects against harm from radiation exposure, regulates hormones, and has diuretic properties. Useful for impotence, infertility, hives, nervous system disorders, and disorders caused by blood impurities.
